Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.
Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the team's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League season.
Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous associations to the club - are part of the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.
The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.
However the former Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.
The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves board as they begin the process of hiring a new manager.
O'Neil is additionally emerging as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a shock appointment given he was released by Wolves in December last year.
The former West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to pay any compensation.
